Original blog May 4, 2109. Black and white. Right and wrong. Good and evil. Sound doctrine and private interpretations. Didn’t it seem like it easier in days gone by. I guess I truly am a senior citizen to use a phrase like “in days gone by.”
2 Peter 1:20 – Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. (NIV 1978)
My Musings – We are being bombarded by new “revelations” and new interpretations at an ever-increasing and alarming rate. But the Scriptures we have had stood the test of time because they were inspired by the Holy Spirit. Let’s stick with them.
My Advice – You will encounter many private interpretations of Scripture. Many will have generated a large following. But always remember, God’s Word does not change, and a large following of another word does not make that word true.
Excellent advice Steve, keeping it simple and focused. Blessings brother.

I just read through your “story” and the story of your wife Eileen. That’s quite the story. While my story is not quite as accomplished as yours, there are many interventions along the way that show God’s grace and guidance in my own story. I entered the Canadian military as a Private when I was 17 years old with a grade 9 education and retired as a commissioned officer. After retiring from the military I again worked for the military, as a private contractor for the next twenty years in my profession, which is Information Technology, until I “retired” at age 70. God continually opened doors that I never would have thought possible. I still work part time but that also is a gift which allows us to assist our five now grown up children and seven grandchildren when needed. If ever there was an individual who has been granted grace after grace it is me. Some of the stories I could tell you. It’s really amazing when you look back and see how God orchestrates all things for our good, sometimes at the very last minute, through doors that we didn’t even know existed. I’m really glad that our paths have crossed Steve, one day we shall meet face to face and what a day that will be. God’s grace, peace and blessings to you and yours.

Thanks Bruce. We all have a story. So glad that our stories are linked at the foot of the cross. May God bless you and your family too.
