The LORD comforts his people and will have compassion on his afflicted ones. But Zion said, “The LORD has forsaken me, the Lord has forgotten me.” Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands. (Isaiah 49:13–16, NIV 1984).
My Musings – It’s easy to feel forsaken and forgotten these days. But not by God. People are fickle. Governments rise and fall. The “darlings” of Wall Street come and go. A time is coming where even “brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child. Children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death.” (Mark 13:12, NIV 1984).
But God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?” (Hebrews 13:5–6, NIV 1984). But can we trust Him?
- Can He (capability) do what He says? Being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised. (Romans 4:21, NIV 1984).
- Will He (willingness) do what He says? This is what the Sovereign LORD says: “None of my words will be delayed any longer; whatever I say will be fulfilled,” declares the Sovereign LORD. (Ezekiel 12:28, NIV 1984)
My Advice – When Jesus was dying on the cross (He who was not limited by time), was remembering you (who had not even been born yet). If you remember (believe in) Him, the only thing the Father will forget is your sins (past, present, and future). How can we possibly forget someone like this?
