Where is Their God?

Why should they say among the peoples, “Where is their God?” (Joel 2:17ā€“18, NIV 1984).

My Musings – People can and will say “Where is their God?” They said it in the distant past, and they will continue to say it until the Lord returns. Especially when things are bad, or a long time passes before they see any evidence of God taking action. Yet, by in large, the world refuses to accept the greatest evidence of all that God did take action – “on a hill far away…where the dearest and best
for a world of lost sinners was slain.”

My Advice – In “these last days” that old refrain “where is their God” will take on an entirely new dimension. “[Scoffers] will say, ‘Where is this coming He promised? Ever since our fathers died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.'” (2 Peter 3:4, NIV 1984). He will come when there is no one left that is willing to be saved. For, “the Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with [us], not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9, NIV 1984).

“Where is their God?” “Where is this coming?” Those are the wrong questions. The right question? “What must I do to be saved?” (Acts 16:30, NIV 1984). The right answer is, “believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved.” (Acts 16:31, NIV 1984). So that when Jesus does come, we’ll be where God is.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be ā€œborn againā€ by accepting Christ.
