Presumption

Numbers 14:41-45But Moses said, “Why are you disobeying the Lord’s command? This will not succeed!” Nevertheless, in their presumption they went up. Then the Amalekites attacked them and beat them down. (NIV 1978)

My Musing – In our arrogance, we often presume to know more than God. We are humbled when we find we do not. How much pain and sorrow could be avoided if we humbled ourselves before God at the outset?

My Advice – Do not stay when God says go and do not go when God says stay. There will be many times when God’s plans will not make sense to you. Those are the times you should step out on faith and do what He leads you to do. Do not presume that you know better. You never will.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
