Enduring Word

Deuteronomy 6:6, 7These commandments that that I give to you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. (NIV 1978)

My Musing – We usually find time to talk about the great movie we just saw, the incredible sporting event we just witnessed, or whatever the latest gossip is. We should be more eager to talk about God’s word. Movies are forgotten, sports teams rise and fall and gossip is discredited. God’s Word stands forever.

My Advice – Make God’s Word a priority in your life. Make time to read it, study it and meditate on it. Apply it to whatever circumstance you are facing at the time. You may be surprised to find out just how relevant His Word is to the very situation you are facing.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.

  1. 1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearance and his kingdom;
    2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
    3 For the time will come when they will not harden sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
    4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
    5 But watch thou in all things, harden afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
