Until You Remove It

Joshua 7:11, 13b“Israel has sinned; they have violated my covenant, which I commanded them to keep. They have taken some of the devoted things. O Israel. You cannot stand against your enemies until you remove it.” (NIV 1978)

My Musing – As Christians, we are God’s chosen. But just like Israel, who was also God’s chosen; we cannot expect Him to bless us, prosper us or rescue us from difficulties as long as we have unrepented sin in our lives.

My Advice – Do not expect God’s full blessings during periods that you have unconfessed sins in your life. We may be under grace and the freedom that accompanies it, but we still have a responsibility to obey His moral law. It is unrealistic for us to expect His full blessing when we do not give Him full obedience.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.

For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life of him for my sake shall find it.
    Matthew 16:24,25

And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life .
