Rash Vows

Judges 11:36 – “My father,” she replied, “you have given your word to the Lord. Do to me just as you promised.” (NIV 1978)

My Musing – This story recounts a foolish vow, with tragic consequences. We may think we would never do such a thing, but we do it all the time. “God if you do this thing for me, I’ll do this for you.” This can be just as foolish.

My Advice – Do not make rash vows to God. If you make a vow to God, make very sure you can keep your end of the bargain. And then, keep it.
