Consulting Our Baals

2 Kings 1:3 – “Is it because there is no God in Israel that you are going off to consult Baal-Zebub, the God of Ekrin?” (NIV 1978)

My Musing – There are so many places to go for help that we are prone to neglect the only source of real help – our God and our Savior.

My Advice – Be careful who you consult for guidance and advice. Is it a Godly source? If not, be very wary of the paths that they suggest you take. Jesus is still Lord of your life and will provide Godly counsel through His Word, the Holy Spirit and other believers. Heed their advice, especially when it is at odds with worldly advice.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
