Enough!

1 Chronicles 21:15The Lord saw it and was grieved because of the calamity and said to the angel who was destroying the people, “Enough, Withdraw your hand.” (NIV 1978)

My Musing – God will deal with sin. He will do so to bring a wayward child to repentance. He will also do so even after repentance, because sin does have consequences. But we can rest assured that He is grieved that He must do so (His righteousness requires it) and He will not do more than is required (His justice demands it).

My Advice – The longer the rebellion and the more grievous the sin, the more the severity of God’s dealings. When you sin, do not be stubborn. Confess and repent quickly and save yourself from added grief. Submit to God’s mercy, grace and justice. He will not deal with you more harshly than is necessary.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
