Clinging

Psalms 66:18 – If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened. (NIV 1978)

My Musings – We can confess our sins. We can even stop our sinning. But if we cherish sin (different than being tempted by its allure), then we really have not given it up.

My Advice – If you find that God seems distant and that your prayers are not being answered, make sure you are not clinging onto old sins. You may think that you let them go, make sure you are not clinging onto them in your heart.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
