Objects of My Affection?

Proverbs 30:7-9 – Two things I ask of you O Lord; do not refuse me before I die: Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread. Otherwise, I may have too much and disown You and say, “Who is the Lord?” Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God. (NIV 1978)

My Musings – Once we begin to pursue things that exceed our needs, we begin to get ourselves into trouble. Too much, leads to greed. Too little leads to irresponsibility.

My Advice – Be careful of setting too much of your heart on success and wealth, lest you become greedy, envious or feeling self-sufficient. These things can easily become the object of your affection rather than God.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
