Compelling Reluctance

2 Corinthians 9:6-7Remember this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. (NIV 1978)

My Musings – Stinginess implies reluctance. Reluctance implies compulsion. Compulsion implies grumbling. What kind of “gift” would that be?

My Advice – Give, not because you are able to give, but because you want to give. And remember, your generosity is not measured by how much you give, but by how much it costs you.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
