When You’re In A Pickle

They all plotted together to come and fight against Jerusalem and stir up trouble against it. But we prayed to our God and posted a guard day and night to meet this threat. (Nehemiah 4:8–9, NIV 1984).

My Musings – Sound a bit contradictory to you?  Maybe a bit of belts and suspenders approach?

My Advice – There is nothing wrong with praying for God’s providence and protection, while prudently using the resources and wisdom that He has blessed us with.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
