Fruitful Labor

“We proclaim [Jesus], admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ. To this end I labor, struggling with all his energy, which so powerfully works in me.”  (Colossians 1:28–29, NIV 1984).

My Musings – We labor struggle and spend our energy on so many things in this life.  Many worthwhile, some less so.  But to bear much fruit, like the fruits of the Spirit (“love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control“) and to present converts and disciples “perfect in Christ” through “His energy, which so powerfully works in [us],” are the only things that will survive the grave.  That will be “fruitful labor for [us].”

My Advice – Be fruitful and multiply.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
