No Shame

For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love, and of self-discipline.  So do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord. (2 Timothy 1:7, 8, NIV 1984).

My Musings – Imagine, if you will, a spirit of power without love and self-discipline.  What kind of testimony would that be?  Better to have a spirit of timidity.  Throughout history we’ve seen plenty instances of power without love and/or self-discipline to know how damaging it can be.  But in the context of a Christian witness it could be worse than shameful, it could have eternal consequences.

My Advice – Don’t overly focus on the power, for it is worthless without love and self-discipline.
