“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing! Look, your house is left to you desolate. I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.’” (Luke 13:34–35, NIV 1984).
My Musings – “People change because they want to – not because you want them to.” (“Becoming Bulletproof,” by Evy Poumpouras). Jesus longed for the Jews to change, but they were unwilling. We should not expect a different reaction from many who are exposed to the Gospel today. No matter how much we would like them to accept Christ, they must be first be willing. But we must never “dumb down” the Gospel to make people want to. They would be wanting the wrong thing and still be left desolate.
My Advice – Only the truth will set people free. Diluting the truth will only give a false perception of being freed. Don’t ever compromise the truth.
