Creation & Cross – Acts of God

God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.  (Genesis 1:31, NIV 1984). 

My Musings – In legal usage throughout the English-speaking world, an “act of God” is a natural hazard outside human control, such as an earthquake or tsunami, for which no person can be held responsible. (Wikipedia).  In Biblical usage, an act of God (as He originally intended it) was supernatural and “was very good.”  

To keep it good, however, was not “outside human control.”  There was only one rule.  But a shadow fell across God’s creation.  The shadow of a tree, bearing forbidden fruit.  We failed to control our desires and ate what was forbidden.  Since that time, we have violated every other rule handed down by God.  For these, we will all be “held responsible,” although we almost universally disclaim responsibility.  In fact, we have a tendency to blame God for all that…
