I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. (Titus 3:8, NIV 1984).

My Musings – What are “these things” that Paul wanted to stress? These things that mattered so much?

Remind the people to be…ready to do whatever is good, to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and to show true humility toward all men. (Titus 3:1–2, NIV 1984).

At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. (Titus 3:3, NIV 1984).

He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. (Titus 3:5, NIV 1984).

Those foolish, disobedient people around us who are enslaved by all kinds of passions…

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
