Giving Account

“But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.” (Matthew 12:36–37, NIV 1984).

My Musings – Not every word is questionable, and not every word is careless. All too often they are indisputable and carefully thought ought. But whether merely passive-aggressive or overtly belligerent, we will be called to account. The safe “distance” that the internet provides at our subtle and not so subtle jabs at the expense of others, will provide no protection when we get up close and personal with our God on that day. We will either be condemned by idle words or acquitted by words of confession of Jesus Christ as Lord.

My Advice – Let there be no question on where you will stand on that day.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
