His Name’s Sake

“For my own name’s sake I delay my wrath; for the sake of my praise I hold it back from you, so as not to cut you off. See, I have refined you, though not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction. For my own sake, for my own sake, I do this. How can I let myself be defamed? I will not yield my glory to another.” (Isaiah 48:9–11, NIV 1984). 

My Musings – Seems like mankind is doing more and more to defame God’s name, giving glory to just about anyone or anything but Him.  For now, He has held back and delayed His wrath. He has not cut us off.  Why would He do this?  For His name’s sake.  “God’s name extols His character. I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
