“In everything, treat others as you would want them to treat you, for this fulfills the law and the prophets.” (Matthew 7:12, NET 2005). 

Musings – Most people, whether or not they consider themselves to be a Christian, or otherwise religious, are familiar with the “Golden Rule.”  Even detractors of Christianity, and of religion in general, would probably agree that it is a good “rule” to live by.

But what if others do not treat you as you would like?  Then they are likely to activate the John Bernard Books rule.  “I won’t be wronged. I won’t be insulted. I won’t be laid a-hand on. I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
