On The Contrary

Not all who are descended from Israel are Israel. Nor because they are his descendants are they all Abraham’s children. On the contrary, “It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.” In other words, it is not the natural children who are God’s children, but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham’s offspring. (Romans 9:6–8, NIV 1984).

My Musings – Not all who claim to be Christians are Christians. Not all who were raised in Christian families are Christian. Rather, it is through faith in Christ alone that our eternal destiny is reckoned. It is not the natural man that are God’s children, but only those who have been supernaturally born again as a child of God.

My Advice – Claim the promise.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
