“I [the rich man] beg you, father [Abraham], send Lazarus [the beggar] to my father’s house, for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place [Hades] of torment.” Abraham replied, “They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.” “No, father Abraham,” he said, “but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.” He [Abraham] said to him, “If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.” (Luke 16:27–31, NIV 1984). 

My Musings – Many are aware of the story.  The rich man, who enjoyed the luxuries of life, after death was in agony from the flames.  Meanwhile the Lazarus, who had to beg for a living had also died.  Now he was enjoying the pleasures of Paradise. The rich man wanted…

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
