Keeping Watch

“Therefore, keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.” (Matthew 24:42, NIV 1984).

My Musings – While we are keeping watch (because “we do not know the day [our] Lord will come,”), we must be ready. Putting it all together, the things to watch for might look something like this.

There will be a variety of signs, or “birth pains” leading up to the Tribulation. the Rapture and Jesus’ return. And the Rapture may not occur as depicted above (Pre-Tribulation Rapture). It could come in the middle (Mid-Tribulation Rapture) of the Tribulation or right at the end (Post-Tribulation Rapture) immediately preceding (simultaneous with) the Parousia.

My Advice – Be ready, as if He was coming today. “So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.” (Matthew 24:44, NIV 1984).

Keep working, as if it won’t happen in your lifetime. “Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time? It will be good for that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns.” (Matthew 24:45–46, NIV 1984).

If we’re ready for the Kingdom, but still working for the Kingdom, it won’t matter that when don’t know for sure when the King will arrive. Keep your hand on the plow and an eye in the sky.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
