The government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. (Isaiah 9:6–7, NIV 1984).

My Musings – Though the photo is blurred, for anyone my age or older the image is seared into our memories. The stricken leader (President Kennedy) slumping to his left following the fatal head shot, the first lady (Jackie Kennedy) climbing onto the trunk of the limousine, and the secret service agent (Clint Hill) rushing to their aid. I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
