Folly and its Shame

He who answers before listening— that is his folly and his shame. The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge; the ears of the wise seek it out. (Proverbs 18:13, 15, NIV 1984).

My Musings – All too often we listen to respond rather than listen to discern, acquire knowledge or understand. I know that I am guilty of this more than I care to admit. No wonder the is so much misunderstanding, divisiveness, and conflict in the world today. Shame because it is the catalyst for so much of the misunderstanding, divisiveness, and conflict. Folly, because much of it could be avoided if we sought discernment, knowledge, and understanding.

My Advice – Just one more reason that “everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.” (James 1:19, NIV 1984).
