Any Who Seek God

The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good. The Lord looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God. All have turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.” (Psalm 14:1-3, NIV 1984).

My Musings – The fool who says, “there is no God,” they all surely belong in the “no not one.” The “corrupt,” and those whose “deeds are vile,” them too. But certainly not “all have turned aside.” Aren’t there some “who does good?” No, “no one…not even one.”

So, what is it these “some” of these do not “understand?

Why good enough is not good enough – That “whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.” (James 2:10, NIV 1984).

Why all fall short – That, “all have sinned [in at least one point] and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23, NIV 1984).

What the law does not do – Therefore, “no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law.” (Romans 3:20a, NIV 1984).

They have” turned aside” rather than turn back, because “they neither see with their eyes, nor understand with their hearts, nor turn [repent]—and I would heal them.” (John 12:40, NIV 1984).

Yet, there are “some” who do understand. And what is it that they understand?

What the law does – That “through the law we become conscious of sin.(Romans 3″20b, NIV 1984).

Where righteousness come from – That “righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe.” (Romans 3:22, NIV 1984).

What they must believe“That if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10″9, NIV 1984).

These are the ones who turn back rather than “turned aside.” These are the ones “who seek God.” They understand that “the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23, NIV 1984).

My Advice – Be one that understands that “Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us.” (Galatians 3:13, NIV 1984).
