Never Forsaken

The Lord reigns forever; he has established his throne for judgment. He will judge the world in righteousness; he will govern the peoples with justice. The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you. (Psalm 9:7-10, NIV 1984).

My Musings – Forever. From eternity past (impossible to fully comprehend) to eternity future (not as hard), “the Lord reigns forever.” The alpha and omega, the beginning and the end. Before alpha, He was already there. After omega, He will still be there. Or simply I AM.

And “those who know your name [and] trust in you,” when their life on earth is over, “will be with the Lord forever.” (1 Thessalonians 4:17, NIV 1984). Until that time, “I [Jesus] will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans.” (John 14:16-18, NIV 1994). Until that time, we are not forsaken.

We know the God the Father’s name (Yahweh) and the God the Son’s name (Jesus), but the personal name of the God the Spirit has not been revealed to us. He is described in many ways, Counselor, Comforter, and Advocate, to “name” just a few. Yet, “[we] know him, for he lives with [us] and will be in [us].” It doesn’t get any more personal than that.

My Advice – The Lord, “[has] never forsaken those who seek [Him].” Without a doubt, “you will find him if you look [seek] for him with all your heart and with all your soul.” (Deuteronomy 4:29, NIV 1984). Don’t know the way? Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really [know] me, you [will] know my Father as well.” (John 14:6-7, NIV 1984).

“I [Jesus] will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am [forever].” (John 14:3, NIV 1984).

Know Jesus, “know [the] Father as well.” Know Jesus, “know [the Holy Spirit], for he lives with you and will be in you.” Clearly, this shows that we are not forsaken. He will “come back” for us, for God has “never forsaken those who seek [Him].” Clearly, this shows that we will not be forsaken.

Just make sure you know Him.
