As you do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed in a mother’s womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things. (Ecclesiastes 11:5, NIV 1984).
My Musings – “Many [have gone] here and there to increase knowledge,” (Daniel 12:4, NIV 1984), since the days of Solomon (and Daniel). With the increase in scientific knowledge has come an increase in arrogance. In fact, “many [have gone] here and there to” claim that “God is dead and science killed Him.” Believing that science can explain so much that was attributed to God, that He is no longer necessary.
How foolish. “The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God,'” (Psalm 53:1, NIV 1984). Science properly understood (for even with the increase in knowledge we “cannot understand the work of God”) does not make God unnecessary. It “shouts” there is a God, and this is His design. But too many are “deaf” and cannot hear the shouts.
My Advice – “Do not deceive yourselves. If any one of you thinks he is wise by the standards of this age, he should become a ‘fool’ so that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight.” (1 Corinthians 3:18–19, NIV 1984). If the knowledge and wisdom gained in this world leads one to conclude God is not necessary, that is foolishness. “Do not deceive yourselves.” God is necessary. And so is His Son, if we ever want to “understand the work of God,” which is the work of grace.
