Do Not Fear

Strengthen the feeble hands, steady the knees that give way; say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you.” (Isaiah 35:3–4, NIV 1984).

My Musings – While written in the immediate context of Judah (“those with fearful hearts“) and Babylon (those God “will come to save [them]” from), it also speaks of the coming judgment at the end of the age. The age of grace will give way to His “vengeance” and “divine retribution.” But for the elect, those who have put their faith in Jesus Christ, “He will come to save.

My Advice – So, “strengthen [your] feeble hands, steady [your] knees that give way.

Strengthen your feeble hands “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.” (John 10:28–30, NIV 1984). No matter how feeble our hands may seem, they are held firm in the “Father’s hands.

Steady your knees“So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the teachings we passed on to you.” (2 Thessalonians 2:15, NIV 1984). No matter how unsteady we feel, holding on to Him and His teaching allows us to “stand firm.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
