You Whom I Have Upheld

“Listen to me…you whom I have upheld since you were conceived and have carried since your birth. Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.” (Isaiah 46:3–4, NIV 1984).

My Musings – Okay, so I took these verses completely out of context. But humor me. Our extended family celebrated my mom’s 90th birthday this weekend. Above she is pictured with my son (her youngest grandchild) and his son (her youngest great-grandchild). It looks like she is given her great-grandchild some sage advice. At any rate, the above text, seemed like a fitting tribute to my mom and the God who has carried, sustained, and on occasion rescued, her over those 90 years.

My Advice“Surely I am with you always, to the very end of [your old] age.” Matthew 28:20, NIV 1984). Something my Godly mother would readily agree with. Something we all can have if we trust in Jesus.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.

  1. God bless your dear mama-who appears to be feisty! Your grandson is adorable, and your son looks like a doting father. Beautiful family and wonderful scripture to celebrate the occasion. 🙂
