Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil. (Ecclesiastes 12:1314 NIV 1984).
My Musings – “Fear God and keep his commandments,” are inextricably linked. For there is much to fear from not obeying His commandments. Why? “God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing.” If that were “the conclusion of the matter,” then we would all fall into judgment. And “it is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” (Hebrews 10:31, NIV 1984).
My Advice – But it is not the conclusion of the matter for all, even though all have sinned, and no one has ever been able to “keep [all] His commandments.” “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. (John 3:16–18, NIV 1984).
It all depends on what you conclude about the Son. Believe and have eternal life, or not believe and face judgment for every wrong thing.
