“My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:8–11, NIV 1984).
My Musings – Imagine being able to accomplish all that we desire and achieve all that we purpose. If we think that would be a good thing, then we are not thinking it through. Because our ways are not nearly high enough. Our thoughts are not quite lofty enough. We have all had thoughts that in retrospect we were glad never came to be. And said or did things that we wish we could take back.
Not so with God. What He desires and purposes are always holy just, and righteous. We only need to look to the cross to see that it is true. Imagine how things might be with a lesser God.
My Advice – “Great and marvelous are your deeds, Lord God Almighty. Just and true are your ways, King of the ages. Who will not fear you, O Lord, and bring glory to your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.” (Revelation 15:3–4, NIV 1984).
Come and worship before Him. Bring glory to His name. Our ways and thoughts cannot help but be elevated somewhat.
