“Behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind. The sound of weeping and of crying will be heard in it no more. The wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox.” (Isaiah 65:17, 19, 25, NIV 1984).
My Musings – As humans, we often have a change in plans. This is not the case with God. “Who foretold this long ago, who declared it from the distant past? Was it not I, the Lord?” (Isaiah 45:21, NIV 1984). And amidst all the tribulation to come that we read about in the book of Revelation we are reminded of what was foretold long ago. It’s still His plan.
“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.'” (Revelation 21:1–4, NIV 1984).
My Advice – “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind. The sound of weeping and of crying will be heard in it no more.” Definitely doesn’t sound like the “old order of things.” The order of things as they are now and bound to get worse. So bad, in fact, that “a new heaven and a new earth” will be necessary.
But if we want to be among those who will have every tear wiped from our eyes, if we want to be citizens of this new order of things, we must have a new birth. For as Jesus declared, “no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.” (John 3:3, NIV 1984).
