Who Will Listen?

To whom can I speak and give warning? Who will listen to me? Their ears are closed so they cannot hear. The word of the Lord is offensive to them; they find no pleasure in it. But I am full of the wrath of the Lord, and I cannot hold it in. (Jeremiah 6:10–11, NIV 1984).

My Musings – People close their ears to God’s word, because they find it offensive. How dare He unleash His wrath! But He has spoken and given warning. Not only that, but He has given time. But above all, He gave HIs only begotten Son. Why should He not show wrath to those who will not listen? To those who take offense?

He was the offended party, yet people take offense. He provided the remedy for the offense, yet people will not listen to the remedy. They insist there can’t be just one remedy, yet He was under no obligation to provide any. God is being unreasonable? How could anyone possibly come to that conclusion?

My Advice“For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” (1 Corinthians 1:18, NIV 1984). The foolishness of the cross, this is the wisdom of the world. But “the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight.” (1 Corinthians 3:19, NIV 1984). It is up to each individual to decide what is really foolish. Decide wisely.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
