I Have Not Spoken in Secret

This is what the Lord says— He who created the heavens, He is God; He who fashioned and made the earth, He founded it; He did not create it to be empty but formed it to be inhabited— He says: “I am the Lord, and there is no other. I have not spoken in secret, from somewhere in a land of darkness; I have not said to Jacob’s descendants, ‘Seek me in vain.’ I, the Lord, speak the truth; I declare what is right.” (Isaiah 45:18–19, NIV 1984).

My Musings – Credibility. The quality or power of inspiring belief. A rare commodity these days. Authoritative. Substantiated or supported by documentary evidence and accepted by most authorities. Too many believe they are an authority on just about anything they have an opinion about. Opinion. A view, judgment, or appraisal formed in the mind about a particular matter. Opinions do not inspire belief unless they are substantiated by documentary evidence or an authority on the subject matter.

My Advice – Documentary evidence can be falsified or proven wrong. Authorities can be discredited. Opinions? Just that, and nothing more. So, be careful about who or what you believe.

As for my musings? Opinions. Substantiated by what documentary evidence? The Holy Bible. Subjected to intense scrutiny by diverse critics over thousands of years. Never proven to be falsified, never proven wrong. Their authority? “He who created the heavens.” “He who fashioned and made the earth.” He who “speak[s] the truth.” He who “declare[s] what is right.” He who “formed [the earth] to be inhabited.” The author has authority, that’s who. He is “the Lord, and there is no other.” And these are His credentials.

“The words I [Jesus] say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing His work. Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me. For this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.” (John 14:10–11, 18:37, NIV 1984).

Looking for more than opinions? Listen to the One the Father sent “to testify to the truth.” A credible authority.
