Silver and gold will not be able to save them in the day of the Lord’s wrath. (Ezekiel 7:19 NIV 1984).
My Musings – There is a lot than can be bought with money. But it cannot buy happiness (in the here and now), and it cannot buy-off God (“in the day of the Lord’s wrath“). The things that really matter, joy and God’s favor, are not for sale. Because they have already been bought – with the precious blood of Jesus Christ.
My Advice – “And [Jesus] told them this parable: ‘The ground of a certain rich man produced a good crop. He thought to himself, what shall I do? I have no place to store my crops. Then he said, this is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I’ll say to myself, you have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry. But God said to him, you fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself? This is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for himself but is not rich toward God.'” (Luke 12:16–21, NIV 1984).
We cannot take it with us out of this life, it has no value in preparing for the next life, and while it may make life comfortable “for many years,” it will not last forever. But “this very night” we can have what is free, what will “save [us in the day of the Lord’s wrath, ” and will last forever.
