“I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death. Where, O death, are your plagues? Where, O grave, is your destruction? (Hosea 13:14, NIV 1984).
My Musings – For believers, purely hypothetical. There will be no plagues. There will be no destruction. But for unbelievers, a horrifying, yet avoidable, destiny.
My Advice – Avoidable because Christ paid the “ransom,” the price that was required to “redeem [us] from death.” Now, “the saying that [was] written [has] come true: ‘Death has been swallowed up in victory. Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?’ The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 15:54–57, NIV 1984).
Avoidable, but not universal or automatic. Since “every violation and disobedience [will receive] its just punishment, how shall we escape [avoid] if we ignore such a great salvation?” (Hebrew 2:2–3, NIV 1984). Another hypothetical. We will not. So, we must not ignore.
