Who is wise? He will realize these things. Who is discerning? He will understand them. The ways of the Lord are right; the righteous walk in them, but the rebellious stumble in them. (Hosea 14:9, NIV 1984).
My Musings – Realize (become aware of) and understand (accept as a fact or truth), that “the ways of the Lord are right.” Beyond awareness, and beyond acceptance, “the righteous walk in them.” Acting in accord with “the ways of the Lord.” There will be those, of course, who become aware of “the ways of the Lord,” but refuse to accept them as truth. At least not their “truth.” What is hard to comprehend, however, is that some will “realize these things,” even accept them as truth, but will still “stumble in them.” They rebel by opposing what they know to be true.
My Advice – “How, then, can they call [act in accord] on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe [accept as truth] in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear [become aware of] without someone preaching to them?” (Romans 10:14, NIV 1984). We who believe, must do what we can to make unbelievers aware of the truth. What we cannot do is make the wise and discerning enough to accept or act on the truth.
