Woe to those who plan iniquity, to those who plot evil on their beds! At morning’s light they carry it out because it is in their power to do it. (Micah 2:1, NIV 1984).
My Musings – There are varying degrees of iniquity in man’s eyes, but they are all the same in God’s eyes. And who among us can say they have never plotted it or carried it out? And why is it in our power to do It? Because God gave us the freedom to choose. To obey Him or not. To love Him or not. To believe in Him or not. To accept forgiveness through His Son or not.
My Advice – “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28–30, NIV 1984). Key word? “Come.“
“No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day.” (John 6:43–44, NIV 1984). Key word? “Draws.“
Left to their own devices, no one would come. But in His abundant grace, the same grace that compelled Christ to go to the cross for us, He draws us to Christ. Going so far as to “[determine] the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us.” (Acts 17:26–27, NIV 1984). Key words? “Not far.“
But “not far,” the place He “draws” us to, may as well be “as far as the east is from the west” unless we turn and “come to [Him].” As much as God Has done to make it so, at the end of the day the freedom to choose remains with us. The irony is that if we choose not to come, which we are free to do, we remain slaves to sin and death. “Woe to those” who so choose.
Choose to come.
