By My Spirit

This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: “Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,” says the Lord Almighty. (Zechariah 4:6, NIV 1984).

My Musings – Zerubbabel was the governor of Judah at this time. But these words are not for him alone. We like to think that it is by our might and power that we can accomplish great things for the Kingdom. In reality it is only by His Spirit that we can accomplish anything for the Kingdom.

My Advice“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:7–8, NIV 1984). We have the power, because we have the Spirit. “This is the word of the Lord to [everyone who believes].” Let’s go in the power of the Spirit.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
