Though

Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails, and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior. (Habakkuk 3:17–18, NIV 1984).

My Musings – “Though,” as in even if. So, even if circumstances are bad, we can still “rejoice” and “be joyful.” But not if you put the period after these words. The key to this passage is “in the Lord” and “in God.”

My Advice“Do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matthew 6:31–33, NIV 1984). The key words here are “your heavenly Father.” The “pagans” worry about these things when they should be worried about not having a relationship with Christ. But if we do have such a relationship the “even ifs” are of little concern. So, “seek first.”
