Some to Everlasting Life

After [the resurrection] the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, He was taken up into heaven and He sat at the right hand of God. (Mark 16:19, NIV 1984).

My Musings – But He’s coming back. “For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. All the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory. And He will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather His elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.” (Matthew 24:27, 30–31, NIV 1984).

The nations might mourn, knowing that they were wrong about Him. But not His elect, those who have placed their faith in Him. His longing at last will be satisfied as He “gather[s] [His} children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.” (Matthew 23:37, 39, NIV 1984).

My Advice“At that time [His] people—everyone whose name is found written in the book—will be delivered. Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake, some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt.” (Daniel 12:1–2, NIV 1984). Before we “sleep in the dust of the earth” or we “see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky,” we must make sure that our “name is found written in the book.” Otherwise, we “will awake…[to] everlasting contempt.” Awakened from the grave or the sleep of neglect or rejection.

The book is still open, but it is getting late.
