My Musings – Born of a virgin. A claim that is much maligned by modern man. If there was no God who created the cosmos (time space and matter) out of nothing, the laws that govern them, and spoke life into being, I would find the idea preposterous as well. But what is even more absurd is to believe that all that just happened by chance, without a prime mover (self-moved being that is the source of all that is set in motion). God.
If you believe in God, then you believe in the virgin birth. And what makes it even more incredible is that it was prophesied some 760 years earlier. “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son and shall call his name Immanuel [God with us].”(Isaiah 7:14, ESV 2016). If you don’t believe in the virgin birth, then you don’t believe in the God of the Bible.
My Advice – If “you believe in God; believe also in me [Jesus].” (John 14:1, NET 2005). It takes more faith to believe in the alternative.
