The master told his servant, “Go out to the roads and country lanes and make them come in, so that my house will be full.” (Luke 14:23, NIV 1984).
My Musings – God want His house to be full. Many (all) are invited, but few accept the invitation. As we learn from the context of this parable, there are many excuses. But excuses are just that. Excuses. They are not legitimate reasons and are inexcusable. “I tell you, not one of those men who [made excuses] will get a taste of my banquet.” (Luke 14:24, NIV 1984). But for those who accept His invitation, they “will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” (Psalm 23:6, NIV 1984).
My Advice – He’s prepared a “room” and has set a place at His table for us. At a great cost to Him. We’d be foolish to send our regrets to (or ignore) His invitation. To “be thrown outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” (Matthew 8:12, NIV 1984).
