Once, having been asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, “The kingdom of God does not come with your careful observation, nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,’ because the kingdom of God is within you.” (Luke 17:20–21, NIV 1984).
My Musings – Pilate must have wondered what Jesus meant when He said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jews. But now my kingdom is from another place.” (John 18:36, NIV 1984). Followers of Christ need not wonder where “another place.” For, “the kingdom of God is within [them].”
My Advice – Anyone feeling “empty” should seriously consider accepting Christ as Savior. They need not feel empty again. But a word of caution, “[His] Spirit will not contend with man forever, for he is mortal.” (Genesis 6:3, NIV 1984). “Mortal,” meaning flesh and blood.
“I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. The perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: ‘Death has been swallowed up in victory.'” (1 Corinthians 15:50, 53–54, NIV 1984).
We need to enter His Kingdom. It “is not of this world.” If it was, it would be perishable. For this world is fallen. He had a better way.
