“Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.” (Luke 14:14b, NIV 1984)..
My Musings – Doings things without expecting to be repaid is one thing, but doing things where there is no reason to expect you will be repaid is another. “When you give a luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or relatives, or your rich neighbors; if you do, they may invite you back and so you will be repaid. But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed.” (Luke 14:12–14a, NIV 1984).
My Advice – “There will always be poor [crippled, lame and blind] people in the land. Therefore, I command you to be openhanded [generous, charitable] toward your brothers and toward the poor and needy in your land.” (Deuteronomy 15:11–12, NIV 1984). But for the grace of God, it could have been us, and we would want the same treatment from others. Afterall, what we have received from the hand of God can never be repaid.
