“I don’t know you or where you come from.” (Luke 13:25, NIV 1984).
My Musings – These are words no one should ever want to hear. Especially for those who believe, because they’ve lived a “good’ life, that things will just work out. Some “will say [things like], ‘we ate and drank with you, and you taught in our streets.'” (Luke 13:26, NIV 1984). But familiarity does not equal relationship. And things will just not work out. The only way He will know “where [we] come from” is if we come from a genuine relationship with His Son.
My Advice – “I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the Lord. They will be my people, and I will be their God, for they will return to me with all their heart.” (Jeremiah 24:6–7, NIV 1984). This was a message to the southern kingdom of Judah. but it rings true to all who come “to [His Son] with all their heart.” If we do this, we will never hear “I don’t know you or where you come from. Away from me, all you evildoers!” (Luke 13:27, NIV 1984).
