Resolved

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! (2 Corinthians 5:17, NIV 1984).

My Musings – “The old has gone, the new has come!” An apt description of a New Year’s resolution. But for most resolutions, the old doesn’t stay gone very long. The new just doesn’t stick. However, “if anyone is in Christ, [they are] a new creation.” Ther is no going back on that one. But it is not our resolve that makes it stick. “I [Jesus] give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.” (John 10:28–29, NIV 1984).

My Advice – If you have not already done so, make the one “resolution” that will stick. It will make it a Happy New Year.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.

  1. This is such a perfect description of the intentions of many: “But for most resolutions, the old doesn’t stay gone very long. The new just doesn’t stick.” Love it! Happy New Year, Steve! 🙂
