He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God. The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:10–14, NIV 1984).
My Musing – Sent by God, taking on human flesh, to dwell among men. Offering to His creatures, the “right to become children of God.” What does this world and our brief time here offer that could compete with that? Yet most fail to recognize or acknowledge Him for who He is and refuse to receive what He offers. A path back, the only path back, to God.
My Advice – Recognize Him for who He is. Acknowledge what He did for us. Receive Him. Be “born of God.” Born again. A spiritual re-birth made necessary by the spiritual death that entered the world at the fall. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5–6, NIV 1984).
